This four-month project provided an opportunity to examine the European Green Deal, scheduled to expire in 2050, with regard to manufacturers, modes of transport, and vehicle-related consumption, such as parts replaceability, personalization, individual vehicle ownership, and the various uses associated with them.
This project is set in a France of 2050 where populations have migrated and urbanization has expanded. 83% of the national population now lives in urban areas, which are constantly growing upwards, while rural areas are becoming increasingly deserted. 17% of the population occupies 83% of the territory, resulting in a population density of fewer than 20 inhabitants per square kilometer. In cities, the need for individual mobility is no longer necessary; cities are reorganized to allow anyone to access any of their needs within a maximum of 15 minutes. In rural areas, the need for individual mobility and multi-purpose vehicles will only increase. Manufacturers are struggling to develop new chassis and models that meet both government regulations and the actual needs of rural residents. Similarly, kits and products are no longer delivered or purchased in stores but can be printed directly at home thanks to the expansion of the home 3D printing sector. This sector has become an essential product in rural areas and a symbol of DIY and prototyping in these remote regions.
This project champions DIY and a more responsible way of consuming and producing less expensive and more suitable goods. The idea is to create and develop tools independently, using custom, open-source software.
