Clay Modeler

The Role

· Create three-dimensional full-size and scale automotive models based on verbal instructions and two-dimensional specifications.

· Contribute to the physical clay modeling team, developing and fabricating models using a range of materials.

· Work directly with Exterior and Interior designers to translate 2D sketches into 3D physical models.

· Understand and utilize CNC milling and programming technologies.

· Assist with project development, coordination, and execution.

· Modify clay models to communicate design intent to various stakeholders

· Prepare models for internal design reviews and presentations on all levels

· Work well in a team or individually as required.

Qualifications and Skills

· Minimum of 6 years experience within a Design Studio.

· Degree in Automotive Design or equivalent work experience.

· Experience in both Exterior and Interior modeling, with an open-minded approach to different areas of design.

· Strong ability to translate 2D designs into 3D models.

· Excellent spatial perception, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.

· Proficiency in using various clays and sculpting tools.

· Experience with CNC milling machines and CNC programming for in-studio clay milling.

· Understanding of automotive styling and vehicle engineering principles.

· CAD and Alias skills are a bonus.
