Job Purpose

This role is responsible for producing designs and design concepts for automotive products and product concepts. Considering the function, aesthetics, and usability of physical products (and at a high-level, how they support/enhance (are supported by/enhanced by) related digital products).

Research, build understanding and explore materials and manufacturing requirements to achieve proposed designs. At the level of Sr. Designer II, it is also expected that a person in this role can make, render, and animate their own CAD Data for their Designs.


Key Accountabilities

Support exploration, creation, detailing and visual communication of design concepts and solutions for multiple key projects.

Maintain close alignment with AD Division Strategy, Department, Product Owners, and other AD designers.

Work closely and regularly with Digital Sculptors and Prototype Technicians to create digital mock-ups, visualizations, and physical mock-ups and prototypes (in order to confirm feasibility, usability, and real-world appearance and application of design exploration/proposals).

Work closely and regularly with Honda IP to identify unique opportunities and secure Design & Utility Patents for Honda.

Maintain high level of familiarization with Honda and Honda competitor products, also past, current, and emerging design trends, beyond just automotive.

Actively participate in other projects/activities as required

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

4 Year Graduate Degree in Industrial or Transportation Design.

5 Years of Product Design Experience.
