Description

Duties:

Translates sketches into finessed model with minimal design direction. Applying new technology to improve existing techniques. Aids in design and engineering problem solving. Understands complex problem solving around engineering requirements. Creates new and improves existing digital models using multiple software programs. Produces finished data suitable for all outputs required for a typical project, including renderings, animations and rapid prototyping part creation. Coordinates input from internal and external customers to better understand their needs and or perceptions. Conducts texturing and material creation using 3D software such as Alias, VRED, Blender, Unreal, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, etc. Comprehends lighting, composition, and camera effects in order to inform high-end digital renderings. Creates and runs VR digital reviews that require texturing, lighting, python scripting, animation, and a knowledge of head mounted display technology. Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in area of expertise. Working with rapid modeling and iteration. Uses polygon as well as sub-d modeling to achieve this. Attends appropriate program related meetings as defined by leadership. Performs assessment of surface quality (clay or digital). Adheres to corporate data management processes (TeamCenter, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.). Duties may be performed remotely. Must be able to report to local office.

Requirements:

Associates degree in Digital Design, Industrial Design, or related field and Five years of experience as a Digital Sculptor, Digital Design Engineer, or related role.  Five (5) years of experience with: Developing visual representations of vehicles using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software and digital tools; Designing passenger vehicle exterior and interior systems in a virtual environment before manufacturing; Creating three-dimensional (3D) digital models (virtual designs) for full vehicle production; Utilizing design tools, including Autodesk Alias, Blender, to create detailed digital models; Ensuring model adheres to industry standards, US and international safety regulations, and functionality; Performing material and texturing mapping; Defining materials physical factors, including glossiness, reflectivity, transparency, color, and texture patterns; and Preparing high-quality renderings using virtual lighting, including virtual rectangular light, cone light, point light, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) camera angles and visual effects.

Compensation:

  • The expected base compensation for this role is $145,000.00 to $158,000.00 Annually.
  • Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
