The 3D model was developed as a SubD model in Rhino with the help of Grasshopper for patterns and details.

That SubD model served as a base for Grasshopper script to deform a shape and play with proportions morphing the body to various body types. Results can be seen in a few short videos below.

About the project

Being a huge fan of family cars and especially estates or wagons with their sleek silhouettes that combine sportiness and practicality, I decided to explore two-boxes body type with pronounced volumes with clean surfaces and crisp graphics. Besides stylistic exercise I tried to explore grasshopper possibilities with subd’s; how can it be transformed and manipulated and used for automotive application.
