Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is currently looking for a CMF (Color, Material, Finish) Designer at our Irvine, CA facility who will:

  • Research, analyze, create visual presentations for each project (Interior and Exterior), incorporate innovative design trends in developing new products, and follow each project from concept to production for all North America vehicle lineups.
    • Conduct comprehensive research on global and regional color and material trends, staying in touch with industry advancements and emerging technologies, attend material related Expo’s and trend shows.
    • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Planning, and Marketing teams and the Interior and Exterior designers, along with external suppliers to ensure seamless integration of CMF concepts into the product development process.
    • Responsible for all aspects related to the projects, including scheduling project steps, ordering and receiving materials, presenting concepts, creating design notes & build book.
    • Mentor and guide upcoming CMF designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
    • Follow development of color and materials from concept through approval and finalize mastering (Interior and Exterior) for the manufacturing plant including color harmony reviews.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of consumer design trends and forecasting.
  • Create effective communication tools to convey concepts, themes, colors, and research ideas to send to suppliers and to present to management.
  • Perform color tuning and material mastering to ensure consistency of colors and materials prior to production and distribute mastered materials to sister organizations.
  • Benchmark competitive vehicles and aid in design direction.
  • Create and present technical reports as assigned.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers
  • Organize material library
  • Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator Alias, VRed, PowerPoint
