We are seeking an Interior Design Manager for our Advanced Design studio in Pasadena, CA. In this role, you will be a leader in a dynamic team using advanced technologies to create next generation designs that will ultimately deliver industry leading vehicles. From concept to production, the design team infuses BOLD creativity with rigorous design builds and tests while laser focused on always aiming for a higher quality standard.


As a Design Manager, you will be on the front lines of seeing through our programs, leading the aesthetic direction through the integration of customer focused needs and brand differentiation into all design proposals. You will direct, administer, and coordinate the overall activities of a design studio. We are seeking candidates who are highly technically skilled but who also possess the ability to be a positive motivator across the studio.


What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):


Lead a team of team of interior designers on multiple advanced programs

Develop two and three-dimensional representations of proposed design solutions

Work across groups such as Design, Engineering, Program Teams, Sculpting, Fabrication to develop design proposals

Collaborate and enhance critical relationships with design studio leaders, sculpting, engineering, manufacturing and quality to diplomatically eliminate roadblocks

Swiftly handle design issues when they arise and propose decisive solutions

Make presentations of new thoughts and designs

Direct studio activities in absence of upper management

Understanding and ability to negotiate criteria with engineers

Understands program timelines and is proactive regarding task completion

Understands design sections and provides guidance to program sculptors and engineers to create full size and scale models

Integrate subsystems required to complete entire full size design proposals

Train, develop and evaluate and manage design employee performance

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Industrial Design, Automotive Design, or equivalent experience

10+ years of Automotive Design experience

Demonstrated creative proficiency with supporting portfolio

Ability to create and communicate new ideas

Excellent understanding of line, form and surface development

Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes

Ability to mentor design team members, assess and mange performance in completing assigned tasks

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees

Knowledge of current trends in design, technology, production methods and materials

High level of strategic thinking and strong ability to conceptualize fresh ideas
